June 1, 2007

Hi!

Hope you all had a nice Memorial Day weekend.  We were in Illinois visiting "the kids" and "grandkids".  Had a great time.

Like I mentioned last time, I had lunch with Wanda Brunstetter after her book signing here in Millersburg.  It was great getting to know her and her husband a little better.  She signed all my books, so if you order the "Amish Friends Cookbook", "A Sister's Secret", or the "Simple Life" devotional, you will get an autographed copy! They are all available on my website, ohioamishcountry.com

Are you checking the Ohio Amish Country Calendar?  You can check any month you choose, by clicking on the arrows next to the name of the month or going to the box that says "Go To Date".
When you find an interesting item, click on it to read the details.  You can print it out to bring with you or have a reminder message sent to you.  You can sort by Category, and select the view to by by the month, week, day or get a listing of events.  This month's calendar is sponsored by The Barn Inn, a beautiful B&B just north of Millersburg on CR 203.

Speaking of the calendar, tomorrow is the Holmes County Kidney Fund Auction at Mt. Hope.  Breakfast is served starting at 6:30 with the sale beginning at 9:30.  I am sure we will be there!

The weather has been great here with temps in the mid to upper 80s.  Flowers are blooming, everything is so pretty and green.  Crops are coming up.  It's a nice time to visit.

By the way, thanks to everyone who is sending in the inkjet cartridges.  We send them in to a company that recycles them.  We get anywhere from 25 cents to several dollars each, depending on make and model.  That money goes to help a Christian school for orphans and other needy kids in Zambia.

New Flea Market In Berlin

I am surprised someone didn't start one of these a long time ago, but this is a recent addition.  Located just north of downtown Berlin on US62, vendors will come and set up their tables neat John's Furniture Gallery.  They can set up as early as 6:00 in the morning and be there all day long.

There's plenty of parking, so if you like flea markets, you might want to stop by and see what they have.  Imagine it will take a couple weeks to catch on and let people know it is there.
Flea Market Days will be Fridays and Saturdays only.

New Sports Bar in Millersburg

People always tell me they don't  know what to do since most of the restaurants in the area close early.  Well, BAGS, the new sports bar in Millersburg will be open till 10:00 week nights and till 11:00 Fridays and Saturdays. They open for lunch at 11:00.

BAGS is located on East Jackson St., right across from the court house on the corner.  BAGS, is the nickname of one of the owners and it is nicely decorated with Golf Bags and other sports items, large screen TVs and a comfortable viewing area.  Food is great too, so if you want something besides Amish food, this might be the place!!

Airport Breakfast & Fly In

Did you know Millersburg has an airport? Well, they do and every year they have a pancake and sausage breakfast and fly-in where they will give airplane rides for $15 each.  Breakfast is served from 8 to 1:00, but rides will be given all day.

So if you are going to be around here on Sunday, June 3rd, head on up to the airport.  Go west through Millersburg, past the Fairgrounds, to CR 292 which will be a left hand turn.  Follow it all the way to the top until you come to a Y in the road.  Take the left on the Y and you are right at the airport.   FMI 330-674-2686.
